Well it’s now been nearly two weeks since I’ve had my Magic Mouse and it’s the best mouse I have ever used!
At first the shape of it feels odd in your hand, but after about an hour of use I got very use to it and how to hold it.
But the best feature is the scrolling and swiping.
It’s multi-touch surface makes it a breeze to scroll through documents, windows, and photoshop canvases. Swiping too.
The Magic Mouse’s preference pane show you with video all the various moves you can make so you can play with the settings.
There have been reports of it disconnecting now and then. On my 2008 Mac Pro it has been rock solid. I guess different models have different bluetooth hardware so your mileage may vary. There have also been reports of people who just don’t like it – and maybe you won’t either, so I suggest you go to the nearest Apple Store to check it out, but use it for a while – don’t just grab it and say “This feels strange.” Persist and I think you will be rewarded.
I’ll let you know how battery life is in a couple of weeks, and that’s one of the reasons I don’t like Bluetooth peripherals… the battery always dies at the most inopportune time. Apple have promised terrific power management so I’ll let you know how long they last using the Mac everynight for 6 hours and every weekend.
I recommend you buy one. You’ll love it as much as me! As a bonus… have a look at the unboxing video from TUAW. He can’t see the little arrows in the circles where you peel the tape. It’s very funny! You can see the circly ‘open here’ symbol on the first side that he tries.
